Maryland Science Olympiad for Baltimore City
STEM Champions of Baltimore runs the largest urban Science Olympiad program in Baltimore City, providing a platform for students to participate in the Maryland Science Olympiad (MSO). SCB's MSO program supports over 30 city schools during the school year, offering aspirational STEM experiences and resources for middle and high school youth.
Coaches' Support & Clinics
Each fall, hosting Coaches’ Clinics that walks through the current season’s events, rule changes, and key strategies for success. Beyond the clinic, also providing ongoing mentorship, resource sharing, and direct support throughout the year, especially for first-time or solo coaches.
Career Connections
Baltimore STEM Champions (SCB) actively fosters career connections for youth in Baltimore City by bridging classroom learning with real-world STEM pathways. Through career-focused events, high school choice workshops, and tailored resources, SCB helps students explore future opportunities in STEM. The organization partners with key institutions, including Baltimore City Public Schools, Morgan State University, and Johns Hopkins University, to expand access to college and career networks. Many of SCB’s programs also integrate informal mentorship, offering students guidance and exposure to professionals in STEM. By supporting transitions from middle school to high school and from high school to college or career, SCB ensures students are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to succeed in the STEM workforce.

​Student Enrichment: Scrimmages & Workshops
STEM Champions of Baltimore supports student enrichment by organizing scrimmages and workshops that help students build confidence and skills in a low-pressure, engaging environment. Through Codebusters scrimmages, students get hands-on practice with specific cipher types and gain experience working under time limits, making competitions feel more approachable and fun. Interactive workshops offer guided support in events like Forensics, Anatomy, and Green Generation, often led by experienced mentors or professionals. These sessions are designed to break down complex topics, connect to school curriculum, and help students feel prepared. At the same time, they bring together students from across the city to collaborate, build community, and see themselves as part of Baltimore’s growing STEM network.
Regional & State Tournament Support
STEM Champions of Baltimore supports Baltimore City schools in preparing for and participating in the Maryland Science Olympiad Regional and State tournaments. We assist with team registration, event preparation, and logistics, while also providing mentorship, practice resources, and scrimmage opportunities like Codebusters to help students feel more confident. On tournament days, we coordinate volunteer support, help with transportation when needed, and celebrate team achievements to highlight the hard work of students and coaches across the city.
